The Archdiocesan Vocation Promotion Team (AVPT) had been initiated for the purpose of promoting, nurturing and cultivating vocations into the priesthood and religious life. The team consists of all Diocesan and Religious Sisters and Brothers, who are in charge of Vocations Promotions in their respective Congregations. We work together as a team to Promote these awareness of THE CALL in our young people today, so that Good Shepherd will instil in them his mark of discipleship in their life as Priest and Religious.
We acknowledge the need for vocation as Our Good Shepherd, "The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. Therefore beseech the Lord of the harvest to send out workers into His harvest." (Lk 10:2 & Matt 9 37-38).
Let us reflect the words of Pope Benedict XVI on Vocation Sunday 2010,
"Witness Awakens Vocations" is the theme of the 2010 letter from Pope Benedict in which he writes that: "It can be said that priestly vocations are born of contact with priests, as a sort of precious legacy handed down by word, example and a whole way of life. Every priest, every consecrated person, faithful to his or her vocation, radiates the joy of serving Christ and draws all Christians to respond to the universal call to holiness. Consequently, in order to foster vocations to the ministerial priesthood and the consecrated life, and to be more effective in promoting the discernment of vocations, we cannot do without the example of those who have already said "yes" to God and to his plan for the life of each individual."
Lets us be good witnesses of Jesus to the world and our young people in view of this, may respond to the call of the Church to be priest and religious in the Archdiocese. Hence, I appeal to everyone to pray and cultivate vocations in our Archdiocese.
God bless and take care.
